Detail

Steal has no impact on the items dropped by a monster in the event it is defeated. After a successful Steal attempt against a monster, all future attempts against it, regardless of their origin, will fail. Steal scales with skill level and the difference between the player's and monster's DEX.

success_chance = item_drop_rate * (4 + 6 * steal_lv + (dexplayer - dexmonster) / 2)

Similar to MVP item rewards, Steal attempts each item from the monster's drop table sequentially. If the attempt is successful, the player obtains the item. If the attempt is unsuccessful, a new attempt is made against the next table entry until item 8. As monster cards are located in item 8, it is not possible to steal monster cards.

As Steal attemps are sequential, stealing from rather than defeating monsters exhibits a different item distribution. For example, consider the steal and defeat item distributions for a Mobster within the context of Steal 10 and 140 DEX.
