Set a Fiber Lock (trap) beneath the target to inflict knockback, snare, and reduce their FLEE.
| Snare Duration | 8.00 s |
|---|---|
| Knockback | 1 cell |
| FLEE | -50 |
Fiber Lock produces a temporary trap object with a 1x1 AoE and a 1 cell splash radius. When an enemy enters the AoE, the trap triggers, producing a secondary effect and is then dispelled. This secondary effect is produced once, regardless of how many enemies simultaneously trigger a trap. A trap is triggered whenever its AoE collides with an enemy, regardless of its position relative to the user, and may be considered to have infinite range.
Unlike Hunter traps, Scholar trap range placement is restricted by the server rather than the client. Additionally, as Fiber Lock is cast on an object rather than a position, its secondary effect is frequently triggered immediately. Consequently, Fiber Lock is seldom observed in its trap state. Exceptions to behavior include when Fiber Lock is cast on: (1) an allied object, e.g. player, with the intention of creating a trap object and (2) an enemy with high MSPD which tranverses the area of effect before the next state refresh calculation.
If Fiber Lock is not triggered before its duration expires, the trap is dispelled.
When triggered, Fiber Lock inflicts knockback, snare, and a FLEE penalty to the enemy. The knockback direction is towards the trap. While an enemy is snared, movement is disabled. Although snare prevents movement, it does not interrupt the current movement action. Consequently enemies that are immune to knockback, or on maps where knockback is disabled, a supplementary effect is required to interrupt the current movement action, e.g. flinch damage. If the trap is dispelled by any means, the related effects end prematurely.
Unlike other instances of snare, Fiber Lock does not impair a monster's ability to cast Teleport. When multiple applications of Fiber Lock are applied to an enemy, the ancillary applications are postponed until the precedent application expires. When a trapped enemy receives fire damage, the damage is doubled and Fiber Lock is dispelled.
On PvP maps, snare duration is reduced by 1/2.
